Nails Are My Canvas: Episode 2
Welcome back to Nails Are My Canvas!
For Episode 2, I created a simple vine design over an airbrushed ombré background. This nail is part of a three-nail series, but in this episode, I’m focusing on this one design and showing you how I brought it together.
The Background Makes the Design
The airbrushed background is what really makes this nail pop. I blended blue, yellow, pink and red to create a smooth ombré effect before adding the artwork.
Once the background was complete, I painted the black vines, leaves and small birds on top. Because the colors underneath are already doing so much, the design doesn’t need a lot of extra detail to stand out.
Simple, Easy and Straight to the Point
This is another beginner-friendly design that looks more detailed than it really is.
Start with your airbrushed ombré background. Then paint a few thin, curved lines for your vines and add simple leaf shapes along each line. Finish with the small bird silhouettes, apply your top coat and cure.
That’s it!

The right background can completely change a nail design. Sometimes you don’t need to paint a complicated picture—the colors, a few vines and small details can bring the entire nail to life.
If you recreate this design, try using your own color combination to give it a completely different look. After all, your nails are your canvas.
