How Divine Designz Beauty Bar Became Our Beauty Home in Jacksonville, NC
When people walk into Divine Designz Beauty Bar and see all the pink, gold, flowers, nail polish, makeup, and throne chairs, they’re seeing a vision that has been years in the making.
This business didn’t start with the Beauty Bar.
My mom, Brenda, has been doing nails since 1995. Long before social media, nail reels, Gel X, and all the designs we see today, she was already in the industry doing nails and building relationships with her clients. I grew up around it. Beauty was always part of our lives, so it was natural that I eventually found my own place in the industry as a licensed esthetician and makeup artist.
Over the years, we operated different parts of the business separately. We had Divine Designz Nail Salon, Divine Designz Cosmetics, and Divine Designz Hair Palace. Each business represented something we loved, but eventually we reached a point where it made more sense to bring everything together.
That’s how Divine Designz Beauty Bar came to be.
We Wanted Everything Under One Roof
One of the main reasons we created the Beauty Bar was convenience.
A woman may need her nails done, a pedicure, and her makeup done for the same event. She shouldn’t have to drive all over Jacksonville trying to coordinate three different appointments if she can receive those services in one place.
At Divine Designz, my mom handles the nail side of the business and I handle makeup and esthetics. We also sell beauty products and create custom press-on nails. It allows us to do what we each love while giving our clients more options when they visit us.
It also means our clients get a very personal experience. We’re not a large salon with a constantly changing staff. Most days, when you come in, it’s going to be me and my mom.
My Mom Has Been Doing Nails Since 1995
I don’t say that just because it sounds good. I say it because experience matters.
My mom has watched nail trends come, go, and come back again. She has worked through every stage of the industry, but she has never stopped learning. Today, she offers acrylic nails, Gel Xpress, manicures, overlays, detailed nail art, pedicures, and custom press-on nails.
She can create something simple and classic, but she is also an artist. If a client comes in wanting 3D flowers, chrome, hand-painted artwork, or something she saw online, my mom enjoys figuring out how to make that design her own.
That’s one of the things I believe separates Divine Designz from a typical nail salon in Jacksonville, NC. Clients aren’t just choosing a color and being rushed out of the chair. There is real creativity and decades of experience behind the service.
Makeup Is My Side of the Beauty Bar
Although I grew up watching my mom do nails, makeup became my lane.
I love soft glam because I want my clients to look like themselves—just enhanced. I want you to recognize your face when you look in the mirror. I also understand that every client doesn’t want the same thing. Some women want natural makeup, while others want glitter, color, rhinestones, or a more dramatic look.
I provide makeup for weddings, military balls, birthdays, proms, photoshoots, and other special occasions. I also offer private makeup lessons for women and teens who want to become more comfortable doing their own makeup.
Jacksonville is a military community, so I have had the opportunity to work with women preparing for military balls, weddings, and events where they want to feel especially beautiful. Being trusted with those moments means a lot to me.
And Yes, We Really Love Pink
The look of the Beauty Bar is very intentional.
We didn’t want a plain space that could belong to any business. We wanted clients to walk in and immediately know they were at Divine Designz.
That’s why you see pink-and-gold throne chairs, flower walls, gold details, polish displays, and beauty products throughout the salon. We’re always changing something, adding something, or trying to make an area better. If you’ve been coming to us for a while, you’ve probably watched the Beauty Bar evolve right along with us.
Some projects have taken longer than expected. Some ideas have changed halfway through. And, if I’m being honest, some things have stressed me all the way out. But every improvement brings the space a little closer to the vision we have in our heads.
We want it to feel beautiful, but we also want it to feel comfortable. You should be able to come in, relax, talk, laugh, and leave feeling better than you did when you arrived.
We’re Still Growing
Divine Designz Beauty Bar is not a finished story.
We’re still improving the salon, expanding our services, finding new products, creating new experiences, and learning what our clients want from us. Running a small family business isn’t always easy, but we are proud of what we have built together.
So, if you found us because you were searching for a nail salon near you or a makeup artist in Jacksonville, NC, now you know a little more about the women and the history behind the business.
We’re Brenda and Shawanda—a mother-and-daughter team who genuinely love the beauty industry and the confidence it can give women.
